rural healthcareANN ARBOR, Michigan, June 9, 2017 – Medical Advantage Practice Transformation Coach Kelley Montague will speak at the Indiana Rural Health Association Conference at the French Lick Springs Hotel in French Lick, Indiana on June 13. Montague’s presentation will touch on the importance of implementing Quality Improvement activities with clinical staff, and offer pointers on doing so.

The Indiana Rural Health Association is sponsoring the event to stimulate conversation between public health professionals, physicians and advocates of rural communities about their experiences in rural healthcare delivery, as well as the latest information regarding the start-up and on-going management of rural healthcare delivery models.

Montague’s presentation fits with this overall conference theme of rural healthcare enhancement by offering an overview and guide to Quality Improvement in rural practices. Quality Improvement is the use of workflow and data analysis to identify areas in a practice where efficiency and quality can be bolstered, to both reduce costs and improve care quality for patients.

The presentation will cover the benefits of creating a QI infrastructure, tips for successfully working with staff to do so, and common challenges that practices face as they seek to improve aspects of their operations. Montague will discuss general strategy and philosophy for making a QI push effective as well as more technical procedures like data gathering and effective communication.

“Successfully implementing a QI program at a practice can seem daunting, but the benefits in the long run are incredible,” Montague said. “With the right preparation, tools and staff involvement, simple changes in the office can hold huge potential.”

Quality Improvement is a central component of the work Medical Advantage does with healthcare providers. Assisting with QI initiatives in practices is just one of the many ways Medical Advantage seeks to diminish costs and improve treatment, as healthcare transitions into a value-based industry.
